Jeffrey Cynx earned his B.A. from St. John's College, Annapolis and his Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University. His teaching interests include Biopsychology, Learning and Behavior, Statistics and Music Perception.

Mr. Cynx’s main research interests are in studying communication, specifically, mechanisms of song perception and production in songbirds. This has included studies on pitch and rhythm perception, hemispheric asymmetries in perception of harmonic structures, sex, seasonal, and hormonal differences in song discrimination, determination of the unit of song production, and amplitude regulation of song production.
